The news that Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa will have meetings with representatives of the three largest Mozambican parties was brought by the Portuguese weekly newspaper Expresso on Saturday.
The Portuguese president will be in Mozambique between Tuesday and Friday, in his first major state visit.
The Portuguese head of State will receive in three meetings, the parliamentary leaders of Frelimo (Mozambique Liberation Front), Margarida Talapa, Renamo (Mozambique National Resistance), Ivone Soares – who is the niece of the president of this party, Afonso Dhlakama – and the parliamentary leader of the MDM (Mozambique Democratic Movement), Lutero Simango.
According to a source from the Portuguese Presidency, who did not reveal the time or place of the meetings, they were requested by the representatives of the Mozambican political forces represented in parliament.
The Portuguese head of state will be received by the parliament’s Speaker, Verónica Macamo, on Thursday morning.
