The Portuguese Prime Minister is as of Thursday in preventive prophylactic isolation, after having been in Paris on Wednesday with French President Emmanuel Macron, who tested positive for the new coronavirus.
“Due to the confirmation of the positive test of French President Emmanuel Macron, with whom he was yesterday at the Elysée Palace, the Prime Minister is in preventive prophylactic isolation until the level of risk is assessed by the health authorities”, reads the communiqué issued by António Costa’s office.
Then, as the Lusa agency had already said, “in preparation for the trip to Sao Tome and Principe and Guinea Bissau, scheduled for 18 to 20 December, the prime minister carried out a test this morning to detect Covid-19”.
“The Prime Minister decided to cancel this visit, as well as any public agenda involving his physical presence. He will maintain all executive activity and the agenda, which he will carry out at a distance. The Prime Minister has no symptoms”, he added in the same communiqué.
