Portugal Fashion closes off 2015 with its third premiere of the year, bringing the collections of Miguel Vieira, Roselyn and Micaela Silva Oliveira to Africa for the first time on Friday at the Polana Serena Hotel in Maputo.
This is the first time that Portugal Fashion has come to Africa, and its third 2015 show, following Berlin and Milan, in an event organised by the National Association of Young Entrepreneurs (ANJE) and designed to “strengthen the role of Portuguese-speaking markets in their internationalization strategy”.
Complementing the runway side of business, a set of commercial and business-oriented actions called project Next Step will support showrooms and promotional strategies for sales and exports.
According to the president of ANJE, João Rafael Koehler, “No two without three,” and in the year which celebrates two decades of Portugal Fashion, “the project is marked by premieres in three markets”.
“Once it has implemented the approach to Berlin and Milan Fashion Weeks, the tour closes with a bet that is strategic for fashion and for domestic business:. The Lusosphere Mozambique Fashion Week is one of the most important exhibitions on the African continent and represents the materialization of a new international drive in Portugal Fashion’s script,” he explains.
The organization chose for this presentation a group of creators “eclectic, not only with regard to the creative component, but also with regard to the business profile”.
“We have chosen to extend our invitation to an experienced exhibitor in foreign fashion weeks (Miguel Vieira), a talent whose creations are African-inspired (Roselyn Silva) and a designer who is already known in this market (Micaela Oliveira),” he said.
