Mozambique: Annual inflation slows to 3.96% in July
Lusa / Portuguese Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs Teresa Ribeiro is in a three-day visit to Mozambique
Portugal and Mozambique are signing a new strategic cooperation programme in Maputo today during a three-day visit by Portuguese Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs Teresa Ribeiro to the Mozambican capital.
The new programme will be geared towards the “sustainable development agenda” defined by the United Nations, the official said.
The agreement, whose value has not yet been disclosed, will run for five years (2017-2021) and includes traditional areas of Portuguese cooperation, such as institutional training, education, training and health.
The signing will take place in a meeting with Mozambican deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation, Nyeleti Mondlane, with whom Teresa Ribeiro is expected to take stock of bilateral relations.
The programme of the visit also includes meetings with Prime Minister Carlos Agostinho do Rosário and other members of the government, the President of the Assembly of the Republic of Mozambique Verónica Macamo and leaders of the parliamentary benches of the Liberation Front of Mozambique (Frelimo, ) Margarida Talapa, the Mozambican National Resistance (Renamo), Ivone Soares and the Mozambique Democratic Movement (MDM), Lutero Simango.
During her visit to Mozambique, the Secretary of State will meet members of the Technical-Military Cooperation Committee and visit the Portuguese School of Maputo and other projects supported by the Portuguese government.
Teresa Ribeiro will also participate in the launch of the book “Ponta Gea”, by writer João Paulo Borges Coelho, which will take place on Tuesday at the Portugues Cultural Centre.
Oil companies Galp and Eni are organising a presentation on business opportunities related to natural gas exploration in the north of the country on Wednesday, which Teresa Ribeiro will also attend.
