Police shoot young man dead in Nampula

A young man has been shot dead by a police officer in Nampula province.
Twenty-year-old Zico Engenhneiro lived in the Mocone neighbourhood, and, according to witnesses, was shot by a police officer on Monday with an AK-47-type firearm, allegedly during an argument resulting from attempted police extortion.
Witnesses quoted by A Verdade said that the police went to the shop where Zico was shot to demand payment of a debt incurred by the deceased in unclear circumstances.
The police officer concerned immediately fled the scene of the incident to escape the attentions of an angry mob.
