Child kidnapped in central Maputo - AIM report
RM (File).
The Police of the Republic of Mozambique (PRM) In Zambezia said on Wednesday of this week that they have in custody six persons suspected of kidnapping albinos and trafficking in human bones and organs.
Two of the accused have already confessed. Speaking from PRM cells in the Ile district, they told reporters that in addition to kidnapping and killing albinos, they violated graves for human bones.
Spokesperson for Zambezia PRM provincial command Jacinto Felix said that the arrests came in response to tip-offs from the public.
“The detainees say they had a ringleader, currently also in police custody, who instructed them to locate human remains and buy them. This is the third case of its kind already this year,” Jacinto said.
A further known suspect is still at large.
