Days after the shooting of businessman Faruk Ayoob on Zimbabwe Avenue in Maputo, the police have issued a statement.
According to the authorities, the victim contracted severe injuries as a result of the shots that hit him. However, contrary to what witnesses had said, police had only found three bullet cases, not seven.
“The crime was perpetrated by unidentified individuals who, using a firearm, targeted a citizen of 52 years of age who contracted serious injuries and was immediately taken to hospital where he received treatment and, according to the latest information, is still hospitalised and receiving medical attention,” police spokesman Orlando Mudumane said. “The bullets hit him in the abdomen and leg. There were a total of three shots fired, because on the site we found three cases,” he added.
The police again pledged to find those responsible for the death of Jeremias Pondeca and the entrepreneur’s assailants. “The police are on the ground and in time will bring to book those responsible for the death of Jeremias Pondeca, the shooting of this businessman and other unsolved cases,” he said.
