Mozambique: At least 13 killed, seven missing in animal attacks in Tete province last year
Folha de Maputo
It was around 3:00 pm when three alleged Mozambique Police (PRM) uniformed officers went to the Estrela Vermelha market in Maputo in a private car.
According to O País, they had an arrest warrant for an alleged cellphone thief, but their presence did not please the market vendors, who immediately gathered around them in a crown. After all, they had come to arrest one of their companions.
In the ensuing melee, the police, according to witnesses, ended up firing more than five shots. One of the shots hit a young man in the foot. He was left there by police officers.
As they left the market, one of the officers fired again, probably by accident, and struck one of his colleagues in the nape of his neck. He fell, and was taken from the scene by his fellow officers.
