Mozambique: 584 inmates who escaped from Maputo prisons have been recaptured - AIM
Police incinerated a large amount of illegal drugs at the Mahlampswene waste dump in Matola, Maputo province, on Monday.
In the haul were 10,165 kg of mandrax and 7,375 kg of cannabis, along with other prohibited substances.
PRM spokesman in Maputo province, Emidio Mabunda, says more drugs will be incinerated in Matola in the next few days, in order to prevent them re-entering the supply chain.
The Mozambican police have pledged to continue working to identify and dismantle drug factories and distribution networks, which they point to as a major cause of violent crime in Maputo province.
