Mozambique: Two vehicles attacked by terrorists - AIM

The Mozambican police last week arrested members of two gangs in Maputo, according to spokesperson Orlando Mudumane.
Speaking at his weekly press briefing, he added that one gang was arrested as it attempted to rob a currency exchange bureau in one of Maputo’s main thoroughfares, 24 July Avenue. According to Mudumane, the gang was apprehended after a shootout with the police.
The other gang is under arrest for selling hired cars to unsuspecting victims.
Mudumane also revealed that three people died last week with others injured as the result of fifteen vehicle accidents. He stated that driving under the influence of alcohol was the main factor in seven of the accidents, with excessive speed being responsible for the other five.
During the week the police confiscated thirty driving licences for drunk driving and imposed 1,364 fines for various infringements.
The police also arrested 71 people for various crimes, with a pistol and two cars seized.
