In a statement (available HERE) circulated Monday, July 22, Podemos reported death threats against its provincial secretary in Zambézia, Valdemiro Horácio Mussoco, as documented in one of the attached images.
According to Podemos spokesman, the potential victim had arranged to meeting the provincial police commander on Tuesday, July 23, in order to together try to establish the possible identity of the perpetrator(s).
The threat quoted in the Podemos communique and posted by Sala da Paz (picture below) reads as follows:
Letter of warning
“Mr. Valdemiro Mussoco, teacher at Quelimane 25th September School, we know you perfectly and we are following your movements and your abusive political activities, so, for your sake, we give you the following warning:
1. Immediately stop this grooming and recruitment of members of other parties as a means of safeguarding your life and the life of your family;
2. Failure to follow this warning, you now know means that we will kill you like a dog;
3. This warning is just for you! If you hand this over the police or the press, it will worsen your situation, because we will kill you anyway;
4. The only good solution for you and for your family is to immediately abandon your political activities and devote yourself to your teaching career and full stop!
Then don’t say we didn’t warn you.
Quem te avisa amigo é! [Proverb meaning literally: He who warns is a friend!]
