Mozambique: Nampula faces fuel shortages
Pescanovas new vessel
The 30 meter-long freezer vessel Ponta Matirre, launched by Nueva Pescanova Group on Friday, is the Spanish company’s second new vessel in 2019 after a more than 20-year gap.
The ship will be among four new freezer vessels joining the shrimp fleet in the southern African nation of Mozambique on behalf of the subsidiary Pescamar, the company said in a press release. Three additional ships, 50-meter long trawlers, are being built to join Pescanova’s hake fleet in Namibia.
Construction is being carried out at the Armon Shipyards, in Burela and Vigo, Spain, at a cost of €42.5 million ($47.7m), but will generate about 200 jobs, the company said.
