Mozambique: Maputo hosts Music Therapy Conference
screen grab: TVM
The lack of a printer for the only X-ray machine at Pemba Provincial Hospital in Cabo Delgado is upsetting patients there.
Users tell TVM that they are told to photograph their X-rays with their cell phones to then show them to their doctor(s).
But hospital authorities say that the examinations are taking place as normal, with around 80 patients per day seeking x-ray services.
The hospital would in fact need more than one X-ray machine, so as to meet demand and reduce waiting times, a hospital representative tells TVM after justifying that the X-ray information “stays in the device and the doctor may have access to that information”.
“Also the patients, in case they want to, may have access to their X-ray’s information resorting to their cell phones” he adds.
