This afternoon, administrative and community authorities from Canda, Gorongosa district, Sofala province, assured journalists gathered in the region of Muera, that there is no mass grave in that area of the country, denying reports by some national and international press in recent days.
However, unable to come to terms with the official version about the alleged existence of a mass grave in Muera, journalists from private daily newspaper O País decided to cross the Nhaduwe River, which separates Gorongosa district, in Sofala province, from Macossa district, in Manica province. Already in Macossa, a group of peasants and miners who were nearby confirmed the existence of dead people in the woods, reads the report.
In Muera, in Gorongosa district, province of Sofala, these journalists did not establish the existence of a mass grave, adds O País.
