The paving of the road between the town of Marracuene and the Macaneta administrative post, in Maputo province, has started.
According to the authorities, work on the approximately 10 kilometres of road, which started last week, could be completed in five months.
Without revealing the costs involved, Marracuene administrator Shafee Sidat told Notícias that the work was paramount for the development of the district.
Macaneta beach is one of the main tourist attractions in Marracuene, but the state of the road makes access difficult.
Transport operators frequently suspend services during the rainy season for fear of damaging their vehicles.
