Mozambique’s parliament this Wednesday (16-03) approved the law establishing the legal regime for civil identification and the national citizen’s identity card.
The Minister of the Interior, Arsénia Massingue, argued that the provisions on civil identification and the identity card currently in force were out of step with the current reality in the country.
Minister Massingue explained that the proposed law would address, among others, matters such as the minimum age for being issued with an ID card, and the protection of identification and civil data.
The minister also addressed the advantages of the new law, highlighting among other benefits a reduction of fraudulent practices in the process of issuing identity cards.
Parliament also this Wednesday approved a revision of the Sports Law.
Both laws were approved in general and by consensus.
