Parallel count confirms large Renamo victory in Quelimane – CIP Mozambique Elections

Renamo gained 51% of the vote in Quelimane compared to 40% for Frelimo, according to a parallel count carried out by the Mais Integridade civil society observer consortium.

This goes directly against the official result by the district elections commission, which gave Frelimo 50% and Renamo 44%. As in many other places, it appears that the real editais were replaced with fake ones to give Frelimo a false victory.

Results sheets (editais) are posted on polling stations doors after the count and observers were able to record editais from 160 of 169 polling stations (95%).

The parallel count of the actual editais gave Renamo 34 542 votes compared to 28 483 for Frelimo, a difference of 6 059 votes
