Mozambique: President promulgates revision of SERNIC Law

Mozambique’s foreign affairs minister, José Pacheco, will attend the regular session of the Conference of Heads of State and Government of the African Union (AU) on July 1st and 2nd, according to an official statement.
During the conference, the heads of state and government will elect four judges of the African Court of Human and Peoples’ Rights, five members of the African Union Commission on International Law and four members of the African Committee of Experts on the Rights and Well-being of the Child, in addition to appointing the vice-president of the Council of the Pan-African University, the document says.
The meeting, which takes place on the theme “Winning the Fight against Corruption: A Sustainable Way for Africa’s Transformation,” coincides with the 15th anniversary of the adoption of the AU Convention on the Prevention and Fight against Corruption.
The summit will also serve to analyze the institutional reform of the organization and the reports of the President of the AU Commission on the issue of Western Sahara, as well as discussing the adoption of the Continental African Free Trade Area and peace and security on the continent.
“The participation of Mozambique in this meeting aims to promote and defend national interests in the context of Continental cooperation and integration,” concludes the statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation.
