Owner of ‘barraca’ shop in Machava kidnapped at gunpoint – Mozambique

The owner of the Amosse ‘barrraca’ (informal container shop) located in the suburb of Machava-Socimol, was kidnapped on Tuesday afternoon by gunmen who entered his shop.
According to sources close to the victim, the kidnappers said they were taking the owner of the shop to the police station for allegedly buying stolen goods.
Notícias learned that the gunmen were using a car with South African number plates, make unknown. They fired two shots into the air to intimidate onlookers.
Police spokesman in Maputo province, Emidio Mabunda, told Notícias that the PRM had no firm information on the occurrence as yet but was working to clarify events surrounding the case.
