Entrepreneur José Apolinário was released at dawn today, in a forest in the district of Bilene, Gaza province, by a group of five unknown individuals, armed with firearms, who had kidnapped him.
According to the victim, who has operated in the tourism industry for almost 30 years and who was abducted yesterday morning at Bilene Beach, while on his way to work, he was held by these men for more than 20 hours.
Apolinário explained to Noticias that the “gang” asked for a ransom of one million dollars. But since he did not have this value, they ended up accepting the amount of 100,000 meticais (around US$1,400 at current exchange rates) he carried inside his car, at the time of the kidnapping.
The action undertaken by the Police of the Republic of Mozambique, will have contributed to his release, even without the amount required value, the victim reported.
