Mozambique Elections: Supreme Court distances itself from Denise Catarina's statements
The Mozambican government dismissed 104 civil service employees in 2017 due to offences, including corruption and desertion, the public sector minister Carmelita Namashulua said on Thursday.
Minister Namashulua said 205 employees were also dismissed in 2017 for offences.
The public sector regulations give employees the right to request be readmitted after a period of time.
“We have to continue to improve our plans in fighting corruption”, Carmelita Namashulua added.
Disciplinary proceedings were taken against 2,255 state employees in 2017, in total.
The fight against corruption has affected the health, education, migration services and civil registry sectors.
“We have to end these acts that harm our work and undermine the quality service we provide citizens”, she noted.
She also criticised the nepotism, a lack of professionalism and other behaviour that impair the civil service.
