Mozambique: Theft of electrical equipment - Losses amount to 28 million meticais for EDM
O País / Mozambique's Minister of Economy and Finances Adriano Maleiane
The Mozambican government has given assurances that the outcome of the Ematum debt renegotiations will be made known on April 6.
The assurance was given yesterday by the Minister of Economy and Finance, Adriano Maleiane, who recently travelled overseas to renegotiate the debt contracted by the Mozambican Tuna company (Ematum), which is guaranteed by the Mozambican state.
Maleiane says that the creditors, who he tried to persuade to accept a three-year extension of the debt repayment period from 2020 to 2023, are due to make a final decision on April 6.
In explanation, the minister said: “In the first phase, our advisors met investors. In the second phase, I went to talk to each of them, explaining the economic situation and prospects for growth as a way of boosting investor confidence.”
