Mozambican President Filipe Nyusi will take part in ceremonies commemorating the thirtieth anniversary of the Mbuzini tragedy in South Africa on 17 October.
The confirmation was made on Wednesday at the third session of the committee preparing the occasion in Nelspruit in Mphumalanga, South Africa. Mozambique and South Africa have been in constant contact to ensure a dignified celebration.
The ceremonies on the 17th will involve four thousand guests, two thousand from each country. The South African contingent will be represented by South African vice president, Cyril Ramaphosa.
On the day, the border post at Macuácua in Namaacha district will be open to allow Mozambican guests easier passage to Mbuzini.
Rehabilitation works of the Samora Machel Memorial and other related infrastructure valued at three million Rands are ongoing at this time.
The joint committee will meet again in the end of this month to evaluate the organizational aspects of the celebrations.
