Humberto Carlos Benfica, better known by Wazimbo in the music world, yesterday signed a partnership with Água da Namaacha to put on a series of shows across the country aimed at children and young people.
Wazimbo, one of Mozambique’s most respected musicians, explained to the press that his music had a strong educational content, and he was proud to go into partnership with the company, known for its support of cultural initiatives.
Manuela Magaia, of Água da Namaacha Marketing department, said that support for the artist stemmed from the need to get Wazimbo’s message across to those who are the future of the Mozambican nation.
Magaia acknowledged that the content of Wazimbo’s songs is often linked with the country’s history and touches on its citizens deepest feelings.
Magaia said that the work to be developed by Wazimbo was aimed at disseminating a message loaded with ethical, social and symbolic values, and fundamental to cementing the construction of Mozambican-ness.
