The National Institute of Meteorology (INAM) needs around US$50 million to expand its services throughout the country, INAM director Adérito Aramuge said on Wednesday (17-03).
Speaking at the end of the 5th African Ministerial Conference on Meteorology, Aramuge noted that INAM is currently developing a project called “One District, One Weather Station”, scheduled for completion by 2024.
African countries at the event discussed ways of improving the quality of meteorological forecasts, and the replacement of the equipment currently being used with more up-to-date technology by 2025.
