Mozambique: Kenmare awards 100 scholarships to students from communities close to Moma mine
RM / Mário Mungói
The president of the Order of Veterinarians of Mozambique, Mário Mungói, has warned of the dangers of eating meat of unknown origin.
Speaking on Tuesday in Maputo during the group’s second congress, which ends tomorrow, Mungoi said that the consumption of meat from animals treated with antibiotics increases the risk of drug resistance among consumers.
Mungói said that he did not understand why authorities which should be monitoring the quality of food continued to allow the sale of meat in locations not licensed to do so, and that to address this problem, veterinarians should focus their energies on training and consumer information.
