Presenting the final evaluation report of the Sala da Paz provincial electoral monitoring campaign in Pemba on Saturday, President of the Provincial Election Commission (CPE) in Cabo Delgado, Albino Pariela, said that about 4,000 registered voters in uninhabited areas of Cabo Delgado are effectively excluded from the electoral process.
These are in the administrative posts of Mucojo and Quiterajo, in Macomia district, both now deserted because of armed attacks.
The Cabo Delgado CPE president also revealed that doubts persist regarding the village of Rua-Rua in Muidumbe district, where the possibility of evacuating voters without jeopardising voting is being evaluated.
Parihela however brought some good news, reporting that some places thought unlikely to operate on voting day, such as the Mbau Administrative Post in Mocímboa da Praia, now had sufficiently secure conditions to permit voting to go ahead.
