The Association of Accountants and Auditors of Mozambique (OCAM) and the Confederation of Economic Associations of Mozambique (CTA) have signed a memorandum of understanding aimed at the standardisation of accounting activity in the country.
To improve the business environment and accounting services, auditors and accountants working for companies affiliated to the CTA will benefit from training given by OCAM, standardizing methods and improving the quality of services provided.
“The memorandum of understanding just signed should be seen as the CTA’s commitment to transparency, integrity and credibility in all our companies’ and business associations’ management actions,” CTA vice president Augostinho Vuma said.
The memorandum would also contribute to harmonizing Mozambican accounting with international standards, OCAM chairman Mario Sitoe said. The adoption of international standards will contribute to improving the business environment and to the enrolment of OCAM in the International Federation of Accountants (IFAC), one of the benefits of which will be the recognition of Mozambican professionals in the area and the possible contracting of them to work in multinational companies.
At the same event, OCAM signed an agreement with the Institute of Accounting and Auditing of Mozambique to research and update content linked to accounting and auditing.
The memoranda were signed in Maputo on Saturday at the end of the third OCAM training session, the Tax Authority, Irish embassy and commercial banks among others attending.
