Mozambique: Mondlane says pacification agreement not being complied with

President Filipe Nyusi starts a three-day working visit to Zambézia province tomorrow, in line with his commitment to contact with communities and determining the degree of implementation of his government programme on the ground.
A presidency statement quoted by O País indicates that President Nyusi will visit the districts of Maganja da Costa, Mocuba, Gurúè, Mocubela, Lugela and Quelimane.
The president will inaugurate a Faculty of Agronomy and Forestry Engineering at Zambezia University in Mocuba district, and a macadamia processing plant, the product being one of Zambézia‘s planned top export product.
Popular gatherings, meetings with district and provincial government bodies, as well as members of the Frelimo party, are also on the agenda.
During his visits, President Nyusi will meet producers and stakeholders in the agricultural marketing sector in the country’s central province, in line with the head of state’s ‘mphasis on production and productivity.
The president’s last visit was to Sofala, from 11 to 13 August, at the end of which he gave the province a positive report, saying that it was on track to achieve and even exceed the targets set in the government’s 2015-19 Five-Year Plan.
His visit took him to the districts of Gorongosa, Muanza and Chibabava, where he led rallies and a provincial government session and paid visits to ventures of socio-economic import.
