In the year beginning a new electoral cycle, President Filipe Nyusi has moved to renew the State’s political representation in the country’s main constituencies: Nampula, Zambézia, Manica, Niassa and Maputo provinces.
This Thursday (19-01), Mety Gondola, Judith Mussacula, Edson Macuácua, Dinis Vilanculo and Victoria Diogo were all dismissed from their posts as Secretary of State in the provinces of Nampula, Zambézia, Manica, Niassa and Maputo, respectively.
In separate presidential dispatches, Filipe Nyusi appointed as replacements Jaime Bessa Augusto Neto to the post of Secretary of State for Nampula province, Cristina de Jesus Xavier Mafumo to the post of Secretary of State for Zambézia province, Stefan Dick Kassotche Mphiri as Secretary of State for Manica province, Lina Maria da Silva Portugal as Secretary of State for Niassa province and Judith Emília Leite Mussacula Faria to the post of Secretary of State for Maputo province.

As is tradition, the President did not indicate any reason for the reshuffle, which could be related to the new electoral cycle or considerations of succession within the Frelimo party, replacing comrades that the president ‘inherited’ from Armando Guebuza.
