Mozambican president Filipe Nyusi was granted an honorary Doctorate in International Relations by the Geneva Diplomacy Institute yesterday.
In his acceptance speech, Nyusi said that Mozambique supported scrupulous respect for the United Nations Charter on International Relations. “We are convinced that this is the safest way to prevent, manage and resolve international conflicts,” he said.
Filipe Nyusi said that the pillars for building a just, peaceful and equitable world must stand on developing relations of friendship between nations and international cooperation in solving problems. These goals were more relevant today than ever, he said.
According to President Nyusi, the democratization of the United Nations organization could greatly strengthen multilateralism, an important mechanism for helping humanity cope with the challenges it faces today. “No poor country can cope with such challenges alone,” he said.
President Nyusi also stressed that education was a pillar of a nation’s future, and a central concern of the Mozambican government’s plans.
