Mozambican President Filipe Nyusi on Tuesday invited the Secretary-General of the Commonwealth, Baroness Patricia Scotland, to visit Mozambique.
Nyusi met Scotland in New York, where he is attending the United Nations General Assembly. Among the issues the two discussed were trade, empowering women and children and the contribution the Commonwealth can make to driving the economy, notably through building the capacity of Mozambican institutions.
“I’m really looking forward to my first visit to Mozambique,” Scotland told reporters. Nyusi reiterated Mozambique’s commitment to continue working with the Commonwealth, an organisation which it joined in 1995.
