President Filipe Nyusi yesterday highlighted the growth of direct investment by Swiss companies in the country in strategic areas such as agriculture, agribusiness, manufacturing industry, energy, logistics and maritime transport, finance, as well as hotels and tourism.
Filipe Nyusi was speaking in Maputo city, after holding a bilateral meeting with his Swiss counterpart, Alain Berset, who is on a three-day working visit to Mozambique to deepen the friendship and cooperation relations between the two countries.
The Swiss President’s visit to the country is in response to an invitation made by the Mozambican Head of State.
Nyusi and Berset discussed the Disarmament, Demobilization and Reintegration (DDR) process underway in the country, within the scope of the peace agreements, in addition to the fight against terrorism and climate change.
Switzerland chaired the Contact Group, made up of countries that followed the dialogue for peace with a view to signing the Peace and National Reconciliation Agreement, signed on 6 August 2019 between the Government and Renamo.
