Uzbekistan and Mozambique establish diplomatic relations

President Nyusi has postponed a visit to Norway and Finland following the death of the Renamo leader, Afonso Dhlakama, in the Gorongosa mountains on Thursday morning.
The postponement was announced by Council of Ministers spokesperson Ana Comoana, who also noted that the government had decided to appoint a commission to support Renamo and Afonso Dhlakama’s family.
The commission is composed of the ministers of Justice, Constitutional and Religious Affairs, Isaque Chande; Public Works, Housing and Water Resources, Carlos Bonete; and Deputy Minister of Land, Environment and Rural Development, Celmira da Silva.
“The Renamo leader will have an official funeral, as established by law,” Comoana said.
Dhlakama funeral to be held over two days
The government appealed to all Mozambicans to maintain calm and serenity in a spirit of peace, harmony and reconciliation.
The funeral of the Renamo leader will be held next Thursday in his hometown, Magunde, Chibabava district, Sofala province.
