The village of Milepa in Mavago district, Niassa province, has been cut off from the district headquarters by heavy rain.
The 120-kilometre section of road is flooded and impassable, making it difficult to supply the town’s more-than 1,300 inhabitants with goods and services.
In addition to this section, the Mecualo-Mavago, Muembe-Mavago-Lichinga, Mavago-Nkalapa and Mavago-Msawisi roads are also in poor condition.
The director of Mavago’s District Planning and Infrastructure Services, Matias Rajabo, told Radio Mozambique that a survey was being carried out in coordination with the National Roads Administration (ANE), prior to the repair of the most critical sections.
