The Ministry of Land, Environment and Rural Development is reaffirming its perceived need to urgently introduce a new model for monitoring the exploitation of natural resources to combat the rampant exploitation of natural resources, especially the country’s forests.
Without going into detail, the director general of the National Agency for the Control of Environmental Quality (AQUA), Olívia Amosse, said that the new model would constitute a new beginning in the practise of forestry monitoring.
Amosse was speaking in Chimoio in Manica province at the National Qualification and Training Course for forestry inspectors, which ends in September adding that, in order to combat environmental crime, it was also necessary to strengthen the control of taxpayers and change their mentality.
