Increases in the national minimum wage in the eight sectors and subsectors of activity covered vary between 200 and 1,500 meticais, and should take effect from this month, the Minister of Labour and Social Security announced this Tuesday.
Minister Margarida Talapa said the new minimum wages are those within the reach of the Government, and not what it wanted to provide for the working class.
She also said that the approved amounts result from the consensus of negotiations with the Labor Consultative Council (CCT).
The rises in the monthly minimum wage announced by the government are as follows.
The Agriculture, Hunting, Livestock and Forestry sector had an increase of 11.5%, from 5,200 to 5,800 meticais
In Maritime, Industrial and Semi-Industrial Fishing, the increase was 6.9%, from 5,820.75 to 6,220.75 meticais.
In the Mining Industry and Large Companies, the increase was 16%, from 10,353.58 to 12,020.2 meticais.
In the Manufacturing Industry, the increase was 10.10%, from 7,945 to 8,747.50 meticais.
In the Electricity, Gas and Water Production and Distribution, Large Companies sector, the increase was 12.33%, from 9,325 to 10,475 meticais.
In the Construction sector, the increase was 10.16%, from 6,700 meticais to 7,409 meticais.
In the Non-Financial Services sector, the increase was 10.28%, from 7,774.50 to 8,574 meticais.
In the Banking, Insurance and other Financial Services sector, the increase was 12%, from 14,340.85 to 16,061.32 meticais.
