German company Mühlbauer will start producing biometric civil identification documents in Mozambique from February of next year, the Ministry of the Interior has announced.
The company will produce identity cards and biometric passports and may in the future control movement at the borders, according to an official ministry source.
Document production equipment is already in the country and is being distributed, and staff are already in training.
The information comes after the government announced a year ago that Mühlbauer had won the tender competition for the work.
