Mozambique: Government foresees deficit of 126.8 billion meticais this year - AIM report

The Ministry of Economy and Finance has raised the National Reconstruction Tax in 48 districts of Mozambique, with the highest increases occurring in Chicualacuala, Meluco, Mocímboa da Praia and Machaze.
Ministerial Diploma 52/2019 of May 28 raised the National Reconstruction Tax in Chicualacuala district, Gaza Province, from 40 meticais to 50 meticais in 2019, and remission increased from 45 to 60 Meticais.
In Meluco, Cabo Delgado, rates were raised from 15 to 25 meticais, as also in Mocímboa da Praia. In Machaze, Tete, rates went from the 20 meticais to 28 meticais.
National Reconstruction Tax is the national tax which generates the least revenue for the state. In the last two years, targets were far from being fulfilled, with 28.2 percent of billing in 2017 and only 17.5 percent last year. By 2018, it was the national tax with the lowest collection, at only 10.7 million meticais.
