Nampula: Rape of 14-year-old by 10 individuals thwarted, four jailed

The attempted sexual rape in Nampula of a girl under 15 years of age by 10 individuals was frustrated by a passer-by who reported the situation to the police. Six of those involved remain at large.
According to a TVM report dated January 24, the crime remained unconsummated thanks to the discovery by locals of the place to which the girl had been taken, her arms fractured and tied.
The crime took place inside the Mercado do Matadouro in Muatala neighbourhood on the outskirts of Nampula city, where the criminals, armed with blunt instruments, seized the minor and tied her up before taking her to a local hideout where they intended to rape her.
Those detained are accused of rape of a minor. One of them is under the age of twelve and has admitted his involvement, TVM reports. The alleged mastermind of the crime, however, denies taking any part in the alleged scheme.
Despite her broken arms, the minor is now out of danger.
