Mozambique: Massive destruction by rioters in Nampula schools - AIM report
The crime reportedly took place on October 7th. The trio was detained by police last Monday (October 18) and the Police spokesman says they have confessed. They are: the victim's cousin, a friend and an intermediary who allegedly negotiated the teenager's death for trafficking in body parts for "superstition practices" [aka witchcraft], said Zacarias Nacute, cited by DW Africa. {Photo: DW]
Police in the district of Mecuburi, in Nampula province, have detained three citizens in connection with the murder of a 12-year-old boy suffering from albinism.
The trio enticed the child with sweets, then took him to a forest where they murdered him and buried his body in a machamba, one of those involved has confessed.
“I went to the healer to take the medicine. I used that medicine and the boss promised to give me money. I went out and took that kid to the woods and gave him that medicine. When it was soft, I asked the boss what to do and he said to kill him,” said the accused.
Police say the crime was ordered by a client still at large.
