One of Namibia’s leading fashion designers, Nikola Conradie, is headed for yet another international fashion event when she showcases her summer collection at Mozambique Fashion Week.
Her collection will be showcased on Thursday at the event which has been taking place since December 3 and will run until December 13 in the capital city, Maputo.
“I’m very excited about this and have spent probably a month already working on my collection,” Conradie said.
She will be following in the footsteps of Chakirra Claasen and Maria Caley who have also showcased at the event in previous years.
Conradie, whose work is synonymous with class and tailored finishing, has been having a good run internationally. She attended the Mercedez Benz Fashion Week in Berlin, Germany, last year and showcased in Portugal earlier this year, where she presented a collection made from the most ethical processes. “The show in Portugal was the highlight of my year as it was the first show where I presented my ethical line.”
With the upcoming Mozambique show promising to wind down her year, the talented young designer promises bigger projects for 2016. “I have big plans for next year and have several projects set up already. I will be hard at work from January.”
Mozambique Fashion Week is one of the biggest fashion events on the continent which attracts talent not only from Africa but worldwide too. Among the attractions are night parties with national and international DJs, an awards ceremony and an array of fashion from the crémé de la creme of fashion stars from across the world.
