Nacala port has taken delivery of two new hi-tech tugs to handle large vessels and enhance operations, allowing the port to accommodate ships with freight capacity of more than 210 tons.
The new tugs are the result of an agreement between the Northern Development Corridor and a Dutch company operating in the port.
Fabio Fransão, Northern Development Corridor director of the Port of Nacala, said that these vessels made the port of Nacala the first in the country with the ability to manoeuvre large ships.
The equipment has arrived just as the port of Nacala is preparing to embark on the second phase of its rehabilitation and expansion project, planned for July.
