The days of “My Love” transport are numbered, with Maputo city council predicting its demise this year.
The open “My Love” transportation – so called because commuters are obliged to cling to each other without regard for age or gender in order to stay aboard – has become a popular alternative form of public transport in the city.
João Matlombe, councilor for transport, says the city council will not take any deliberate administrative measures to kill off “My Love”, but says that its death will be the result of natural causes – in the shape of the introduction of 50 new buses on the Zimpeto Museum and Zimpeto-Baixa routes initially, and later this year on other routes.
