A hydrocarbon exhibition room to be created at the National Museum of Geology in Maputo over the next six months will cost nearly US$170,000.
The project is being funded by Total, one of the stakeholders in Area 1 of the Rovuma Basin in Cabo Delgado province.
Director of the Museum of Geology Dino Milice explained that, in addition to establishing an exhibit specifically dedicated to hydrocarbons, the partnership would include training for museum staff.
Total’s investments in the project comes in partnership with Technip Middle East, the executor of the oil company’s projects.
President of the National Petroleum Council Carlos Zacarias said that the initiative would promulgate knowledge about the country.
The National Museum of Geology collection comprises about 5,000 pieces, of which 790 rock, mineral and fossil specimens are currently on display.
