Ikweli learned, from a source close to the case, that the deceased was carrying just over one million meticais at the time he was murdered. He had just collected the amount from various commercial establishments belonging to the company Belusca Commercial, where the victim worked.
The macabre act that ended the life of a father and husband took place in an area that should be one of the safest in Nampula city. There are several bank branches located nearby, and it is not far from the offices of the Provincial Governor and the Secretary of State for the Province.
Police in Nampula have not yet commented on this case.
Ikweli contacted police spokesman Zacarias Nacute on Monday afternoon, moments after the murder. He promised information, but had not spoken at the time of going to press.
