Although the terrorist attacks have not yet ceased altogether in the province of Cabo Delgado, Muidumbe District Administrator Saíde Aly Chabane has ordered the return, by next Sunday, November 1st, of all state officials and agents who left the district.
In a circular letter issued on Friday of last week, Chabane says that there is currently “a climate of security at the district level” sufficient to allow the start of the reconstruction of damaged infrastructure and the resumption of public services to the population.
Therefore, “all State employees and agents assigned to the District Government of Muidumbe are requested to report to their jobs by November 1, 2020. After the deadline, employees who are not present at their posts will be marked and their salaries discounted,” the note, to which ‘Carta’ has had access, says.
Alongside Mocímboa da Praia, Macomia and Quissanga, Muidumbe is one of the districts worst affected by the terrorist attacks. The district capital was the target of a terrorist offensive on the 8th of April, in which almost all social and economic infrastructure was destroyed.
