The MozYouth Foundation celebrated the graduation of more than 170 young people in Cabo Delgado as part of its internship program supported by Mozambique LNG Foundation. The graduation is part of a broader internship program launched in 2023, which benefited 500 young people across the northern provinces of Mozambique.
By connecting young people to real work experiences, the program equips them with practical skills, professional exposure, and the confidence to enter the labour market. Over the past year alone, nearly 300 young people from the northern provinces have benefited from these internships and soft skills trainings opportunities, with Cabo Delgado at the forefront.
The graduation ceremony, attended by the Governor of Cabo Delgado, underscored the importance of collective action to create opportunities for youth. The interns have received certificates in recognition of the completed program.
One of the highlights of the event was the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between MozYouth and the Municipal Council of Pemba. The agreement will expand internship opportunities and reinforce a shared commitment to creating structured pathways from training to employment.
Onorio Manuel, CEO of MozParks and Board member of MozYouth, emphasized the importance of linking youth employment initiatives with the industrialization agenda:
“Industrialization is not only about factories and infrastructure, it is about people. By preparing young people with the skills needed in a modern economy, programs like this ensure that industrial growth translates into jobs and opportunities. The success of Cabo Delgado depends on our ability to connect investment with local talent.”
The program’s expansion shows that investing in young people is the most effective way to secure lasting peace, prosperity, and shared development in Cabo Delgado.
