MozParks Holding and Kenmare Moma Mining (Mauritius) Limited have announced, in a ceremony presided over by Silvino Moreno the Mozambican Minister of Trade and Industry and Manuel Rodrigues governor of Nampula province, their collaboration to establish an industrial park and free trade zone in Mozambique. This joint venture aims to stimulate economic growth and create jobs by attracting investors to Topuito and working with the local communities and businesses. Topuito Industrial Park (TIP) will act as a driver for development within the province and, directly and indirectly, provide income to over 100,000 people TIP provides a well-organized and specialized ecosystem that fosters economic growth, collaboration, efficiency, and sustainability within the industrial sector.
Both parties bring their expertise to this initiative. MozParks will develop essential infrastructure for investors and liaise with partners and public authorities. As the operator of Topuito Industrial Park, MozParks will provide maintenance services, support tenant companies, facilitate local content bidding for Kenmare contracts, provide internship programs, SME training and certification, support agro-processing initiatives, offer shared support services including company registration, and community development.
Kenmare will actively encourage its suppliers and service providers to invest and establish their business operations in TIP and will provide support during the construction phase by ensuring water supply and power from its substation. Kenmare will collaborate with MozParks to secure donor funding for the Park’s infrastructure and facilities. During the operations phase, Kenmare will actively promote local businesses, support reforestation efforts, and engage in corporate social responsibility initiatives.
Kenmare views the establishment of an industrial park in a post-mined site as a world-class case study that will bring significant benefits to local communities and Mozambique as a whole. Together, MozParks and Kenmare are committed to supporting economic development and job creation in Mozambique.
