Mozambican athlete Verónica José, currently residing in Portugal, has been working hard to get the minimum mark necessary for the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris.
The long-distance runner, who still maintains links with Sporting de Portugal club, is intensifying her preparation for the competitions in which she will pursue her goal.
“I’ve been taking part in several competitions every week with the aim of gaining strength and being in the desired shape for the competitions that lie ahead,” the athlete explained. “I was recently in Maputo and won second place in the international half-marathon, and on the 10th of July I took first place in the 1,500 metres race. At this moment, I am waiting for Coach Lário to indicate other competitions in which I will participate.”
Last year, Verónica won the gold medal in the 1,500 metres event in Braga, Portugal, earning her participation in the prestigious World Championships in Colombia in August 2022.
